AMERICAN THEATER | Latin theater company announces Re-Encuentro festival
LOS ANGELES: Latin theater company accepts applications for the Re-Encuentro festival. The festival follows the company’s Encuentro festival in 2014 and the international Encuentro de las Americas festival in 2017.
The festival, which celebrates the richness of contemporary Latinx theater and shines a light on the diversity of Latinx culture, will feature eight companies in digital residency at the Los Angeles Theater Center, with performances, panels and events on Latino Theater Company’s online platform. In addition to presenting their work to the public, artists will share creative methodologies in artistic workshops, culminating in the performance of a new co-created work. Discussions and panel discussions after the performance will also be included.
Any ensemble, solo artist, theater company or production entity can submit a production for review by May 17th. Productions must reflect American Latinx theater or illuminate, explore or develop an aspect of Latinidad. Linguistic diversity is encouraged. The selection committee includes award-winning theater artists from the United States, Mexico and Honduras.
The festival will take place practically from November 12 to 21.
The Latino Theater Company of the Los Angeles Theater Center seeks to provide a world-class arts hub for those seeking artistic excellence, a laboratory where tradition and innovation are honored and honed, and a place where people converge, cultures and ideas contributes to the future.
