Don’t push ICE out of Massachusetts [OPINION]
Massachusetts is quickly becoming a sanctuary state for illegal immigrants, including dangerous criminals. The Biden administration recently ended the successful relationship between Bristol County Sheriff Tom’s Hodgson and the Immigration and Customs Control Agency. This suits the radical left politicians in Massachusetts perfectly. That’s a big part of their program, which includes the dismantling of ICE.
Senators Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey and most of the United States House delegation, including Rep. Bill Keating and Rep. Jake Auchincloss, applauded Biden’s decision. All four signed a joint declaration praising the administration’s action, declaring that “everyone has the right to dignity, security and due process. This decision confirms this right and is a victory for the detainees, families, lawyers and lawyers who have pressed for more accountability and more humane treatment by the BCSO. “
Attorney General Maura Healey, another crunchy southpaw, actually traveled to Tijuana to offer encouragement, and I suspect instructions, to want to be illegals in finding their way to Massachusetts. His biased report on a riot at Bristol County Correctional House last year involving two dozen illegal criminals was at the heart of the Biden decision.
New Bedford representative Antonio Cabral supports, among other things, driving licenses for illegal immigrants and has repeatedly fought Hodgson’s cooperation with ICE. Cabral is also a sponsor of the so-called Community Security Act which provides additional protections for illegal aliens in Massachusetts.
Massachusetts is a magnet for illegal immigrants crossing the southern border in record numbers. They have lawyers here, including Warren, Markey, Keating, Auchincloss, Healey, and Cabral. These defenders are slowly reducing the rule of law to protect illegal aliens, many of whom are violent criminals. This is done to the detriment of the law-abiding taxpayers who foot the bill.
Illegal foreigners strain local resources such as public safety and education, and increase the burden on already struggling housing and labor markets. Massachusetts should strengthen, not weaken, its relationship with federal immigration officials to ensure the safety and security of its citizens.
