Discover DC artists at Anacostia Arts Center this summer

Anacostia Arts Center, the multi-purpose arts space in the historic Anacostia district, is launching new exhibitions for this summer that will highlight DC’s black artists. There are five galleries, plus a lounge, cafe, and shops. Here’s what to look for:

14th Annual East of the River Exhibition

From June 12 to July 24.

The parent organization of the Center ARCH development is in partnership with the DC Black Artists (BADC) for a month-long show dedicated to the talents of the east of the river. Co-curated by artists Terence Nicholson, Zoma Wallace, Zsudayka Nzinga Terrell and Jess Randolph, the exhibition will feature visual art from 14 DC creators. Outterman vs. innerMAN by BK Adams

From June 12 to July 23.

BK Adams, a DC-based artist known for his boldly colorful paintings and sculptures, will exhibit his work at the Honfleur Gallery. His art was Featured at the Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum and at the Smithsonian Institution National Museum of African American History and Culture. Shriya Bhattacharya

Shriya Bhattacharya is a member of the editorial staff of The Washingtonian and covers everything from politics and health care to food and lifestyle.
