Rally for Montana Pastor Wed Night, “Let’s Go Brandon”

The “Let’s Go Brandon” rally for Pastor Brandon Huber from the Missoula area takes place Wednesday evening. Additionally, the Missoula Organization of Realtors has now released an official statement regarding his case. (This news update is further below)

For those who missed the story, the free speech rights and Christian beliefs of Pastor Brandon Huber of the Missoula region are under attack. Now the locals are planning a “Let’s Go Brandon” rally to defend Pastor Brandon.

I spoke with Pastor Brandon’s lawyer, Matthew Monforton. The pastor also works part-time as a real estate agent in Missoula and is targeted for his Christian beliefs by the Missoula Realtors Organization.

Monforton says the problem comes down to a simple question: “Is the Bible hate speech?” Because that’s what Missoula’s real estate agents claim. Monforton continued:

As your listeners may know, the National Association of REALTORS recently passed a hate speech provision that applies to all real estate agents, and it applies 24/7, not just when they do the job.

So what exactly does the complaint against Huber allege was “hate speech?”

The “hate speech” was a letter Pastor Brandon distributed to his congregation explaining his actions. He basically said, look, we’ve been partners with the Missoula Food Bank. They want to distribute this, this LGBTQ pride flyer. This goes against our biblical doctrine, and so we will be making free breakfasts ourselves. That’s it. It was the most polite and innocuous letter you can imagine.

Monforton tells us that local supporters are planning a “Let’s Go Brandon” rally in support of Pastor Brandon Huber on November 17 at 6:30 pm at the Clinton Community Church.

Monforton: We need everyone on the bridge here. And it’s at some point, if we don’t resist this, that the awakened LGBT mafia will come after all of us.

When I first contacted the Missoula Organization of Realtors, they had no comment on the case. Earlier this week, I received this statement from Jim Bachand, CEO of the Missoula Organization of Realtors:

Bachand: Discriminatory behavior, including hate speech, is directly against who REALTORS are and should not be tolerated in any profession. As a local association of the National Association of REALTORS®, we take our role very seriously in upholding such a rule to ensure that discrimination has no place among our REALTORS®. The NAR and the Missoula Organization of REALTORS® are confident that this practice will withstand judicial scrutiny. When handling ethics complaints, MOR carefully considers all matters and follows due process to ensure fairness for all parties involved. It will be for the MOR Hearing Panel to determine whether any of the issues raised in the complaint constitute a violation based on the evidence presented.
