The Motorola Razr 3 could finally be the flagship flip phone we wanted

Specifications for the upcoming foldable Motorola Razr 3 have hit the internet and hint at a true flagship flip phone.

At the end of 2021, Motorola’s parent company, Lenovo, officially confirmed the arrival of a new Razr, with a more refined design, an improved user interface and a faster processor.

However, it wasn’t immediately clear how this flip phone would improve over the first and second generation Motorola Razr foldable phones, which were both disappointing. With the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 doing so well, Motorola has it all.

We now have a much better idea of how this improvement could happen, thanks to XDA-Developers. According to the website’s sources, the Motorola Razr 3 will run on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. This is already a big improvement over the previous two Razr, which both ran on less than advanced silicon.

This will be supported by 6, 8 or 12 GB of RAM, which represents a wide range of options. The storage is handled by variants of 128 GB, 256 GB or 512 GB.

The report is a bit vague on the Razr 3’s display, although he has found indications that it will be an FHD + AMOLED with a 120Hz refresh rate. We are not learning anything about it. ‘secondary display, other than the fact that there will be one.

We’re not hearing anything about the cameras, which could be the key here. One of the areas where the Galaxy Z Flip 3 was disappointed was the provision of its camera, so there is an opportunity for the Razr 3 to do something special.

Interestingly, the new Razr (or at least a variant) may also offer ultra-wideband support, which would allow for super-precise positioning and can be used for digital car keys. NFC is also part of the package, but you would expect it.

It looks like Motorola is finally making its relaunched Razr series a flagship concern and is planning a global launch accordingly.
