FOOD critic Jimi Famurewa is back on our screens with Jamie Oliver’s new cooking series The Great Cookbook Challenge on Channel 4.
After appearing as a judge on Masterchef in 2019 after being a contestant, we take a deeper look at who this food expert is.
Who is Jimi Famerewa?
Jimi is a British-Nigerian freelance writer, editor, podcaster and occasional television personality.
He was born in London to Nigerian immigrants.
He studied at Royal Holloway, University of London from 2002 to 2005.
In 2018, he was named Chief Restaurant Critic for the Evening Standard.
Prior to that, he freelanced as a writer for The Guardian, Q, Empire and Time Out.
He also co-hosts Waitrose’s Life on a Plate podcast and has interviewed high profile public figures including Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Liam Gallagher, Nigella Lawson and John Boyega.
Her career has seen some highlights, including nominations for the BSME Rising Star Awards and the 4th Estate BAME Short Story Prize in 2017 for her story, Teddybird.

Is Jimi Famurewa married and does he have children?
Famurewa lives in south-east London with a wife and three children.
His wife, Leighanne Famurewa, is from Nottingham in the East Midlands.
According to Wiki, as of now, she is a full-time housewife.
The couple dated for several years before getting engaged in December 2014.
The couple then walked down the aisle after a two-year engagement on August 29, 2016.
Before getting married, the duo had already become parents of two children.
In 2018, they again welcomed their third baby boy.
What TV shows has Jimi been on?
After participating in MasterChef 2005, Jimi appeared in Celebrity Masterchef 2006 and Step Up to the Plater 2019.
On his Masterchef UK run, Jimi was hailed by the judges as the top critics alongside Ruth Hansom.
He reached the 1st semi-final of the high-level culinary competition, but unfortunately struggled to complete the high-tension challenge and failed to reach the final round.
