British Columbia ‘American Idol’ Singer Has Won a Golden Ticket and He’s in a ‘Whirlwind of Emotions’
Canada has yet another incredibly talented person american idol contestant heading to Hollywood.
Eshan Sobti, a 17-year-old from Mission, British Columbia, impressed american idol judges, Lionel Richie, Katy Perry and Luke Bryan with his talented singing talents.
Unfortunately, her audition wasn’t broadcast live on TV, but Sobti told Narcity the whole experience was “unreal” and described being able to audition for the famous judges as “an essential memory.”
He wowed the judges by singing Dean Lewis’ “Half a Man” with so much emotion and soul, and he recorded a rendition of the song in his Instagram video below.
“It was an emotional roller coaster as I was laughing with the judges before singing and then crying after singing,” Sobti said.
According to Sobti, Lionel Richie told him he had “one of the clearest voices he had heard”.
Not only did he impress Lionel with his insanely talented skills, but another judge also had outstanding comments.
“Katy said she liked the scream in my voice which was also amazing because it’s Katy Perry!!!!!” Sobti said.
So proud and shocked after this big moment, Sobti said he was screaming and crying when he officially got his ticket to Hollywood.
Sobti admits that it doesn’t come from a great musical background. He told Narcity he was self-taught watching Disney Channel and YouTube growing up.
His first singing performance, at the age of 11, was at a school talent show and he has come a long way since then, until american idol.
Sobti has also recently started writing music in addition to his singing and he hopes for great things in the future.
He wants to inspire people to “realize that it doesn’t matter where you come from or what your expectations are. You can always work hard and if the motivation is there, it will lead to great things,” he added. .
Sobti joins fellow Brit Cameron Whitcomb in the final stages of the competition after the Kamloops teenager was also awarded a golden ticket to his audition.
