Soft rock stars Toto began in 1977 as a virtuoso musician’s project aiming for chart success, a goal they achieved almost instantly, having released more than a dozen studio albums and sold over 40 million records worldwide. The band is on tour with longtime members Steve Lukather and David Paich. The line-up includes Journey, touring in support of their first album since 2011, Freedom.

The other place

A moment in the spotlight for Tina Machele Brown.

Just as Juliana Smithton’s research leads to a potential breakthrough, her life takes a disorienting turn. During a conference in front of colleagues in an exclusive seaside resort, she sees a young woman in a yellow bikini in the middle of the crowd of business suits. One step at a time, a mystery unfolds as conflicting evidence, hazy truth and fragmented memories collide in a cottage on the windswept shores of Cape Cod.

When: Thursday, Friday and Saturday, 8 p.m.; Sunday, 2 p.m.

Or: Playhouse on stage, 291 Third Avenue, Chula Vista. onstageplayhouse.org
