Samsung reportedly working on affordable foldable phones
Samsung is reportedly working on a pair of new affordable foldable phones that will slash the price of the Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Galaxy Z Fold 4.
Last year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 was perhaps most notable for being the first sub-£1000 foldable phone. However, it still wasn’t exactly what you’d call affordable, and we don’t expect this phone’s successor to do much to change that.
Samsung may be looking to remedy that drawback with two new, even cheaper foldable phones, according to ETNews.
The South Korean website says Samsung is working on a new foldable phone with a price tag below one million won. That equates to around £630, which is obviously a lot less money than what we’ve seen before.
It seems likely that such a device would be a compact Flip-style phone, but the report says the brand is also working on a larger Fold equivalent.
Interestingly, the report claims that Samsung is looking to create a foldable version of its budget Galaxy A line here. Whether that means the phones will adopt the Galaxy A branding rather than a “Galaxy Z Lite” remains to be seen.
It’s worth noting that the company doesn’t typically use the Lite branding for its global flagship Galaxy S phones, though.
These affordable foldable devices from Samsung are reportedly in the works for a 2024 release, so we might wait a bit to find out for sure.
