Sylvester Stallone’s latest film, “Samaritan,” hits Prime Video on August 26. The Amazon original film is directed by Julius Avery (“Overlord”).
“Samaritan” follows Sam Clearly, a 13-year-old boy who comes to believe that his mysterious neighbor is actually a famous superhero who disappeared 25 years ago. Sylvester Stallone plays Joe Smith, aka Samaritan, who is said to have perished in a battle against his old rival, the aptly named Nemesis. As the crime rate increases in the city, Sam must convince Samaritan to finally come out of hiding.

The “Samaritan” cast also includes Javon Walton (“Euphoria”), Martin Starr (“Freaks and Geeks”), Moisés Arias (“Hannah Montana”) and Dascha Polanco (“Orange Is the New Black”). Although originally written as a spec script, “Samaritan” was first adapted into a graphic novel series in 2014.
How to watch “Samaritan”
You can watch “Samaritan” exclusively on Prime Video starting August 26. But, since Prime Video typically releases new content at 12 p.m. GMT, US subscribers should be able to stream the film as early as 7 p.m. ET on August 25.
A Prime Video subscription alone costs $9 per month, but this option only applies to the video service. “Samaritan” began as a spec script written by Bragi F. Schut. Before the film was picked up, however, Schut adapted the story into a series of graphic novels published by Mythos Comics in 2014. So while the film was written first, the comic adaptation was published first. .
