Michael Eck celebrates 40 years of music with a new album
Musician Michael Eck hasn’t released a solo album since 2010. Twelve years, countless shows with bands, 150 new songs, an induction into the Capital Region’s Thomas Edison Music Hall of Fame, a loss of weighing in at 265 pounds, a pandemic and a hit later, he’s gearing up to release his fifth solo album, “Your Turn to Shine – New Songs, Live at Wext”.
The album will have its official release party on September 25 at Caffe Lena, where Eck is a board member. The party will follow a concert celebrating Eck’s 40-year career. It started with a cover of The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go” for a battle of the bands in Albany in 1982, turned into a 20-year-old solo. acoustic career, woven himself playing guitar with music legends including Patti Smith, and travels and then returns to the Capital Region where he plays both in bands and solo.
